Our Quality

What makes Pristine Gourmet Oils quality superior to mass-produced oils of today?

1. Superior Taste & Aroma

Pristine Oils are rich in colour, full flavoured and aromatic. Mass-produced oils are very neutral in taste, clear with virtually no aroma.

2. Chemical, Solvent & Preservative Free

Pristine Oils are cold pressed without the use of chemicals, solvents or preservatives. Mass-produced oils use these to aid in efficiency with their process.

3. Naturally Occurring Antioxidants

Pristine Oils have naturally occurring antioxidants. When oils are mass-produced, synthetic antioxidants including BHT, BHA, citric acid and methyl silicone are added. These are added to improve the oil's shelf life and stability.

4. Cold Pressed Process

Pristine Oils involve minimal heat in their process. Oil temperatures remain below 50°C to meet cold pressed standards. By reducing the heat in the process many nutritional and natural antioxidants remain present in the oil. Among those retained are lecithin, vitamins A and E, minerals, chlorophyll, and various aromatic and volatile compounds. Mass-produced oils reach temperatures well over 250°C during their process, eliminating some of these stated above.

Our Process

Pristine Gourmet is the only company locally cold processing extra virgin domestic oils, AND the only company that can boast that it produces what it processes on it's 4th generation family farm. Due to the ways in which the oils are extracted and processed, there are many differences between Pristine Gourmet Oils and mass-produced oils.

Pristine Gourmet's extra virgin, premium oils are made the old fashioned way, using centuries old European Cold Press technology. Cold Pressing refers to the way in which the oil is extracted from the seed. By using only mechanical force, and not allowing the oil temperatures to exceed 50°C, Pristine Gourmet oils are produced with the highest quality possible.

Oil quality can drastically be reduced if excessive heat is produced during processing. This heat related drop in quality not only affects taste,  nutritional value, aroma and colour are also impacted.

With this in mind, temperatures are strictly monitored during processing assuring the highest quality oil is obtained at all times.  Quality is at the forefront of our business. From scouting our fields during the growing season, inspecting grain at harvest for purity, and throughout the bottling process, you can be assured of the highest possible quality from Pristine Gourmet's premium oils.
